Major proposed activities of this joint venture as envisaged at the time of establishing Indian Institute were to Investigate the genetic basis of diabetes among Indians, train Indian physicians and paramedical staff in centers of excellence in USA, provide research support to develop novel methods of treatment, Endow academic chairs in diabetes, organize state-of-the-art conferences in India on various aspects in diabetes.This autonomous institution runs on generous grant from the Government of Kerala. Directed by former Director of medical education and assisted by internationally and nationally trained senior faculties.
